TL;DR: As Gitorious is closing down as it got acquired by Gitlab, every project there needs to migrate away from there. Our choice is Github.

Qt Jambi 4.8.6 for Windows

Posted by João Almeida
at 2015-02-01 23:00

There is now a new release for Windows x86 and x64.

This release has been compiled with Microsoft Visual C++ 2012 so don't forget to install the Redistributable Package.

Besides using Qt 4.8.6, the existing installer script has been adapted to support this compiler, and a few bugs regarding the execution of the Examples and Qt Designer have been fixed, allowing for both of them to work out of the box.

Qt Jambi 4.8.6 for Linux

Posted by Samu Voutilainen
at 2015-01-14 15:07:55 +0200

There is now new release for 64 bit Linux.
I’ll do 32 bit package later, for Windows current builds should work, but updated packages will follow after
few Windows bundling related problems have been sorted out.

Most notable differences are bundling of libpng, so distributions not shipping the libpng the bundled Qt
was built with will continue working and bump to Qt 4.8.6.

I just pushed new update to the website, fixing various site crashing problems,
and support for commenting posts. Now you can more easily tell if there still is something
missing or broken.

Old posts are also back on the site, special thanks to João Almeida for doing that.
I didn’t insert old comments to Disqus. Any opinions whether I should do that?

New iteration of website

Isn't it cute? :)

For more serious news, I was planning to move this website out from the Sourceforge server for responsiveness and to allow some, to me critical, features like spam filtering to work. I encountered some technical problems in form of surprise packets effectively rendering me out from the game. If anyone has spotted, the bug tracker is down for that reason. Be patient, it will start running again soon.

Unit testing with Qt Jambi

Hi!
This is my first post on planetqt, so a few words about myself: I'm Akos (akoskm on IRC), I'm studying (4th, last year) Informatics. I'm the newest member of the qtjambi-community.

In this guide I'll show you how to get started with Unit Testing in Qt Jambi. The theory behind Unit Testing is quite interesting: http://mydailyhash.wordpress.com/2010/10/15/getting-started-with-unit-testing/.

Qt Jambi 4.7 statuscheck

Posted by Helge Fredriksen

We seem to be well in schedule. Or at least better it was with 4.6. :) Working hard towards better Qt Jambi. Below some notes about what have been doing, how much I've idled and so on.

TL;DR? Beta package for Win32 can be found here. For other OSes you need to compile them yourself still. For 4.6 branch's somewhat experimental nature, using 4.7 packages is encouraged. At least we can be help with it.

Setup files for IntelliJ

There, finally sat down and found out that yeah, I needed that QtJambi setup in IntelliJ to be able to work on the java part of the project. Also, IntelliJ has a pretty nice way of setting up all modules and dependencies in the code, so it's also useful for giving a QtJambi newcomer a good overview of how the project is built up. At least on the java part of it... For c++ devs I recommend opening the java.pro file in the QtCreator.

Simple QtJambi build system starter

To give people some slight overview of how the QtJambi framework is build up, I decided to sit down and write this blog. The standard documentation from Nokia/Trolltech is excellent, but might be a bit too technical if you just want to have a quick overview of the inner workings.

Here's a quick drawing which shows the basic processes involved in generating the QtJambi jar files:

Mac version is alive! (again)

Posted by arcnor
at 2010-08-18 07:15 +0200

The Mac port of QtJambi has been updated to 4.6.3 like its Linux and Windows siblings. Universal and 64 bits builds have been made available on the project page. Other architectures could be built if there is needed, just ask for them in our IRC channel, mailing list or Mac section of our new and shinny forums :). IRC channel still exists, the mailing list is still down and forums never got wind under them, and we don’t have OSX maintainer as of 2014, so in case someone actually finds this old post, try to find out some newer information.

Marble Map Widget as a generator example

Posted by Helge Fredriksen
at 2010-06-03 07:08 +0200

Marble is one of the great achievements of the open source community. It's a kind of FOSS replacement for google earth that allows all kinds of maps to be loaded into a map engine and made zoomable/pannable. Since it's written in Qt and compiles on the newest version 4.6, it makes a great project for testing out the potential of Qt Jambi's generator to be able to map third party widgets to java. So I set forward to do just that.
